The Lead Product Development Engineer position will be mainly focused on leading the development of Brigade’s core commercial vehicle safety and efficiency product range with a strong bias toward electronic engineering. The candidate will need extensive knowledge of the technologies behind these products with good knowledge of the associated engineering principles.
Provide lead product design capability in Brigade’s commercial vehicle product range and assist the Product Development Manager in leading new product design & development enhancing Brigade’s Product portfolio and supporting the Quality and Standards Manager in improving Brigade’s product quality standard.
This position will be predominantly working at product level and require a good understanding of requirements, development & capture, electronic & mechanical architecture and design, software & hardware interaction, product verification and validation. The role requires the utilization of cutting edge technologies and engineering methods keeping Brigade at the forefront of technology and enabling Brigade to better manage and control its’ intellectual properties, whilst enhancing its cost effectiveness. As part of the Engineering team the successful candidate will also be required to support the Application team in the test and development of current products customised to support the application specific requirements of our customers and markets.
The role will be primarily supplier-facing, managing multiple suppliers and manufacturers in both high and low-cost countries, overcoming cultural and language barriers to deliver new products in a timely manner. The position also extends to supporting our customers as needed.
To enhance the competencies of the team the applicant will require experience and knowledge of automotive electronics design standards and quality control principles which are key in ensuring Brigade’s product quality standards are exceeded.
The ideal candidate will be required to have a proactive and flexible approach promoting Brigade’s business ideals and customer / supplier relations while enhancing the Engineering team’s technical knowledge.
Education:
Education and Training
1Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics product development or similar.
25-6 GCSE’s at Grade B or above including Maths, Science (Physics) and English.
3High level of numeracy and literacy
4Above average computer literacy
Experience and Skills:
1Minimum 8 years practical experience with electronics and mechanical product development.
2Able to demonstrate co-ordination skills.
3Extensive knowledge of analogue and digital electronics including micro processing, DSP, video signal processing.
4Knowledge of camera, optics, acoustics, LCD’s and digital recording technology’s
5Knowledgeable of modern automotive electronic architecture, multiplex communication protocols and systems.
6Computer application skills: Microsoft Outlook, Excel,
Word, MCAD & ECAD & PCB development tools,
Electronic circuit simulation programs
7Genuine interest in modern technology preferably with in the automotive industry.
8Attention to detail is critical

Technology
*Optical knowledge and image processing and recognition using CCD, CMOS, IR and related technologies
*Video and audio signal and processing e.g. composite video, RGB, digital formats
*Analogue and digital circuit design and development, including micro processing and digital signal processing
*Software & hardware interface and software engineering
*Digital communication protocol e.g. I2C, SPI, RS232 etc / Signal processing
*PCB level troubleshooting and product fault finding
*LCD interface and panel design
*Hard Disk Drive, solid state drive and flash memory
*Implement design for manufacturing

Welder/Fabricator

We are currently working with a market leading designer, manufacturer and fabricator of a variety of mild and stainless steel products for projects across the South East.

Due to levels of work, they are currently seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join their business on a temporary basis with a view to going permanent.

Responsibilities will include:
*Sheet metal work and fabrication in various metals.
*MIG and TIG welding.
*Working to deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
*MIG and TIG welding experience to a high standard.
*Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Hours will be Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and an hourly rate of between £12-£14 depending on experience.

Trainee Charcoal Engineer

We are working with a well known and unique organisation who are recruiting for an outdoors maintenance professional to fulfil the role as a Charcoal Process Engineer. No two days will be the same so if you are an outdoors type person who thrives in active hands-on work then this could very much be the role for you!

Your role will involve helping load wood into the charcoal kiln burner, operating the wood chopping machine, monitor the burn by adjusting the vents and processing the charcoal into the bags to be sent to their clients in London.

Other duties will include general property maintenance and repair, as well as the woodlands maintenance.

This is a great position for someone who loves the great outdoors and wishes to learn and gain experience in many different crafts. All training will be provided by their highly experienced team, and it’s an enjoyable environment to work in.
