Legal Cashier

We are currently recruiting for a prestigious legal firm that are seeking to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier on a 6-month contract.
Duties will include:
*Recording and banking of all client account receipts
*Processing of payments from client account
*Opening and closing deposit accounts
*Calculation and credit of interest
*Daily reconciliation of the main client bank account
*Day to day administration of the disbursements’ ledger
*Processing requests for payment
*Reviewing ledger on a regular basis for credit balances
*Nominal Ledger/Cashbook
*Post bills (sales invoices) to the accounts system, cancellations and produce credit notes
*Carry out time transfers and write offs
*Review funds earmarked for costs
*Process transfers
*Reviewing new and existing clients and matters created and amendments
*Providing guidance to members of the practice on interpretation of finance procedures
Previous skills and experience required
*Previous experience working in finance within professional services, ideally within the legal sector
*Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff at all levels
*Accustomed to working without close supervision
*Able to demonstrate confidentiality and integrity
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Methodical, accurate and well organised systems of working
*Flexible, energetic, and accustomed to meeting tight deadlines
*Team player
*IT skills – knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products
Hours – Mon-Fri, office hours with flexibility to come in earlier or stay later for business needs

Head Cashier (Legal)

We are currently recruiting for a prestigious legal firm that are seeking to recruit a Head Legal Cashier with strong people management skills to join their team. The role will require you to be responsible for managing the Cashier team and workloads, including all day to day aspects of the financial procedures.
Duties will include:
*Line management responsibility for the Legal Cashiers
*Oversee the allocation of workload and duties of individuals
*Identifying training needs and arrange accordingly
*Assist with reviewing and developing processes and procedures
*Handle compliance activities incl. complex anti-money laundering, accounts rules and cashiering queries
*Assist with reviewing and developing compliance controls for accounting systems and procedures
*Take an active role in monitoring and reducing non-compliance
*Recording and banking of all client account receipts, processing of payments, day end reconciliation of electronic payments and receipts to accounts records
*Calculation and credit of interest
*Reviewing residual balances on client account
*Posting expense charges, reviewing the ledger for credit balances
*Posting payments / invoices / journals to the nominal ledger
*Ensuring that payments and purchase invoices are coded correctly
*Processing the purchase ledger payment run – fortnightly, reconciling supplier statements to the accounts system
*Daily and monthly reconciliations (banking), opening and closing designated deposit and joint accounts
*Placing funds on term deposit, as required and applying enhanced interest rates
*Taking payments for client and office account by credit or debit card
*Dealing with out of date cheques
*Posting bills and cancellations (sales invoices) to the accounts system and producing credit notes
*Entering exception rates
*Carry out time transfers
*Processing transfers between accounts/ledgers
*Calculation and transfer of funds between the client and office accounts
Previous skills and experience required
*Experience within a legal professional services environment as a Cashier (Ideally Head or managerial)
*Experienced team leader / manager working without close supervision
*Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff at all levels
*Ability to delivering work to deadlines
*Demonstrate confidentiality and integrity
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Methodical, accurate and well organised systems of working
*Flexible, energetic, can handle pressure, be a problem solver and accustomed to meeting tight deadlines
*High level of IT skills, knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products. Able to move information between different systems confidently
*Prepared to work on own but in co-operation with team members and carry out whatever duties are required by the team

We are working with a reputable Solicitors based in the Medway area who pride themselves on high quality service, tailoring each service they offer to their client’s needs.

They are looking for a Legal Cashier with Legal Aid experience to join them on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and very well organised, conducting themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Your key responsibilities will be:
*VAT administration and returns
*Process bank transfers
*Processing automatic and manual payment runs
*Assist in month end procedures
*Bank reconciliations
*To ensure all accounts are up to date
*Update accounts and ensure all clients are compliant
*Dealing with enquiries and payments from clients
*Processing of travel and other expenses
*Petty cash

Key requirements for this role:
*Legal aid experience
