QA Assistant – *Evening Shift*

Our client established over 40 years ago and has since become the UK’s leading producer in their industry who, due to continued business expansion, are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant to strengthen the evening team by dealing with any quality and labelling issues that may occur.

They have built an exceptional reputation by combining many years of expertise with modern production and processing techniques, supporting local sourcing with a focus on quality. Reporting to the QA Manager this position would be a key part of dealing with produce quality and labelling issues, ensuring any failures are documented appropriately.

To have a comprehensive understanding of company commitment and focus towards quality and its implementation through the Quality Management System.

-To be familiar with packing requirements through the daily packing instruction
-To communicate non-conformances through all stage of quality control to the relevant departments – Technical, Quality Assurance, Operations.
-To assist in the training of operatives to ensure compliance to customer specifications.
-To maintain a close working relationship with the QA Manager and operations personnel to ensure continuous flow of information relating to quality and production performance.
-Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are being followed as required.
-Liaise with the organisations technical, sales and procurement teams as required.
-Assist with the development of new packing processes and quality management procedures that may occur from time to time.
-To support the Packhouse manager where required and to collate samples

Supported by the QA Manager, your job will be to ensure that the quality process runs as smoothly as possible while ensuring that standard operating procedures are being followed and support the Packhouse Manager when needed. Your other responsibilities will include collecting samples and ensuring that all documentation is up to date and completed correctly.

Other Ad Hoc Duties as Required.

– Have previous experience of working in food manufacturing in a quality role
– Have good people management skills

To join the Quality Assurance team, you’ll have extensive experience of working in a similar QA/QC role within the fresh produce industry. You’ll also be organised and proactive with strong written and spoken communication skills. You’ll adopt a professional approach at all times and be a strong leader.
Evidence of extensive experience working in a comparable role, preferably within the soft fruit and produce industry and strong appreciation of the business needs and resourcefulness in coming up with solutions to their challenges.

A well-developed personal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of employees with the ability to identify needs and issues and recommend suitable and pragmatic courses of action and solutions, adopting a risk aware approach.

Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to handle a number of tasks at once and meeting deadlines as require.

Any HACCP qualification / Training would be highly beneficial but not required however strong IT skills married with experience of Word and Excel is required.
