The goal?
To reduce appearance-based bias and create a more inclusive hiring process​ -especially for those experiencing social anxiety or concerned about discrimination during interviews.

The Cons:

The first crucial point to note is that the announced cuts will not take place immediately; a thorough and legal redundancy process must take place. During this period, the company’s natural attrition rate will influence the actual number of redundancies. 

Things that may happen include:-

  • Temporary and contract staff may not have their contracts renewed –
  • People leave for a new role
  • Individuals may retire
  • Individuals will switch teams internally
  • Deaths and long-term sickness  may happen

The ultimate number of individuals that will be made redundant is very likely to be significantly less than the attention-grabbing headline figures would suggest.
